epic sustainable living expo

epic is a yearly sustainable living expo that takes place in vancouver. we showed up, found out it was all a bunch of greenwash and proceeded to get drunk on various organic and non-organic beers and wines.

stanley park amber - one of the only legitimately impressive products at the expo. canada's first sustainable brewery is powered by its own wind turbine. delicious local beer.

we had to make our own fun.

your garbage for the year. kind of disgusting. though it's also kind of disgusting that an expo full of pseudo-sustainable, disposable crap is this patronising.

sustainable art? by this point i'd stopped trying to understand.

sustainable memory foam bed, free of fossil fuels. i had to try it out. plus beer makes me tired.

filipino frog purse - made from real frog!

roadtrip to pemberton

shannon falls

old man's beard moustache = very classy

austin!

unfortunately these mushrooms got squished before we could assess whether it would kill us to eat them

disaster cake and caramel art

our first attempt at caramelised banana cake with coconut creme anglaise, affectionately known as disaster cake. the next attempt was much more successful.
we used the joy of cooking recipe for an upside-down pineapple cake but replaced the pineapple with banana and the following recipe for coconut creme anglaise: http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/recipe/coconut-creme-anglaise, though we adapted it by adding the cold cream in last to avoid eating scrambled eggs on the cake.
apologies to patrick and georgia for leaving them with a massive hunk of disaster cake.

CONSUME!
